Columbia Asia Cheras Advances Surgical Capabilities with First Robotic Bilateral Knee Replacement

Bangkok, 6 February 2026 – Columbia Asia Hospital Cheras has achieved a significant milestone in orthopaedic care with the successful completion of its first robotic-assisted bilateral total knee replacement (TKR).

The procedure was performed by Dr Manmohan Singh, Consultant Orthopaedic & Spine Surgeon, who is  the first Columbia Asia consultant in Malaysia to perform a bilateral TKR using robotic guidance. Robotic- assisted knee replacement allows for precise surgical planning and accurate implant positioning, supporting improved alignment, consistent surgical approach and structured rehabilitation pathways for patients.

This milestone was made possible through the coordinated efforts of the Columbia Asia Hospital Cheras multidisciplinary perioperative team, including operating theatre, anaesthesia, nursing, and physiotherapy departments. Their collaboration ensured the procedure was conducted safely and facilitated early patient rehabilitation.

In addition, Dr Manmohan recently represented Malaysia at the 4th MIS Spine Week of Thailand held in conjunction with the MISSAT Annual Conference & Global Endoscopic Spine Day where he shared his expertise in endoscopic spine surgery with international peers.

The Asia OneHealthcare Group (A1Health) congratulates Dr Manmohan Singh and the multidisciplinary team at Columbia Asia Hospital Cheras for this landmark achievement, which advances the hospital’s capabilities in minimally invasive orthopaedic care. This success reflects the Group’s commitment to innovative, patient-centred surgical solutions and showcases the expertise, teamwork, and patient-first approach that define A1Health hospitals across the region.
